Strike, Luster, and Rarity of the 1910 Half Eagle: A Detailed Overview
This is a well made date that can be found with a good strike and excellent luster. Finding a clean piece is a much more difficult proposition but it is certainly not impossible. The 1910 is common in the lower Uncirculated grades and only marginally scarce in MS63. It becomes very scarce in MS64 and it is very rare in MS65. In grades above this, the 1910 Indian Head Half Eagle is almost unknown.
A total of 250 Proofs were produced, using the distinctive Roman Finish that is also seen on 1909 Proofs. It is likely that many examples were unsold and later melted and this issue is comparable in rarity to the 1909. Most grade PR64 to PR65 and pieces in PR66 and above are extremely rare.
