1910-S Half Eagles Coloration, Appeal, and Rarity
A range of coloration can be found on original, uncleaned pieces. Hues seen on this date include rose, orange and an unusual and very attractive pale copper shade. Higher grade 1910-S Indian Head Half Eagles can be among the best looking coins of this design from the San Francisco Mint.
The level of eye appeal for this date is better than one might expect. The strike is usually good as are the color and luster. Most pieces are noticeably marked and this is why the typical Uncirculated 1910-S is in the MS60 to MS62 range. The 1910-S Indian Head Half Eagle is extremely scarce in MS63, rare in MS64 and very rare in MS65.
